Welcome to Class 14J - Croeso i dosbarth 14J
A huge welcome to Class 14 where Miss James is the class teacher, our class is a very busy place, full of laughter and learning.
Welcome back! We hope you have all had a wonderful summer. The children have all settled in very well and are looking forward to a new year in their new classes!
Our main topic for this term is ‘Habitats’ and we will also be looking at the book ‘I see a kookaburra’ by Steve Jenkins and Robin Page – with a focus on persuasive writing.
The children have decided on a name for their topic this term and have decided to call it 'The happy world of habitats'.
In science we will be looking at our sustainable Earth, which will include how we can make the Earth a better place, water, recycling, temperature and we will even get the chance to make our own recycled paper!
This term we will be covering a range of mathematical skills. Money, length mass volume, bar graphs and fractions.
We also use our times tables regularly, your child will benefit greatly from knowing them as well as possible and should practice them regularly, this will help them tremendously in class.
English this term will be focused around the genre ‘writing to persuade’ and also linked closely with our book. The children will also be working on their basic skills each week.
Our focus this term is ‘Down in the woods’ which is based on habitats. The children will be classifying animals, exploring different habitats and looking at the life cycles of animals.
Homework will always support our learning in class and will be set on a Friday and needs to be returned the following Wednesday.
P.E takes place every Wednesday afternoon so please could you ensure your child has a full P.E kit with them in school.
