Welcome to Class 15D
Mr Davies is the class teacher in Class 15
All the Year 5 and 6 classes work closely together to ensure your child receives the best possible learning experiences. We follow a two year cycle of planning with a wonderful, exciting range of topics and activities. We place a lot of importance on developing children's thinking skills and their ability to improve their own work, whilst giving them the basic skills from which they can begin to fully reach their potential.
Below is a brief outline of the topics we cover in Year 5 and 6. We would love it if you could talk to your child about their topic and find out more about what they've been learning.
Our topic this term is about diversity. We decided to call our topic 'Beautifully different, wonderfully the same'. Alongside other areas of the curriculum, we will be developing our literacy, numeracy and digital skills throughout the topic.
This term we will be covering a range of mathematical skills including: whole numbers, division and multiplication, word problems and fractions. We will also being using Maths throughout other areas of the curriculum each week.
This term we will be focusing on story writing.
This term we will be learning about plants.
Homework will always support our learning in class and will be set on a Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday.
PE is taught on a Friday afternoon. Sports day practice will also be during this term, therefore, PE kits and colored t shirts need to be in school and stay in school and will be taken home at the end of term.
Within PPA sessions this term on a Thursday afternoon, the children will have opportunities to enrich their curriculum with a variety of activities. This will include:
- Sports with various sports coaches

- A community project
Curriculum for Wales 2022
As we are starting to prepare for the new curriculum in 2022, Pupil Voice is extremely important in Class 16. Children will be given the opportunity to suggest ways to learn and what they would like to learn throughout the curriculum. This term some lessons will be taught for longer periods of time, not just for an hour a week.
