Welcome to Class 17C
We are class 17C.
We are fun filled, hard-working children who love nothing more than learning. Mr Collins is our teacher. He helps us to learn and he’s fun as well.
Watch this space!
Welcome back! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer. The children have all settled well and are very much looking forward to working in their new class!
Our topic based text this term is ‘Framed’ by Frank Cottrell Boyce. We will be studying a variety of art work in the coming weeks as the book centres on the disappearance of an extremely famous painting.
This term we will be covering a range of mathematical skills including: Decimals, Time, Area and Perimeter, Symmetry and Tessellations. Your child will benefit greatly from practicing their basic skills regularly as they provide them with a solid and necessary foundation.
This term we will be focusing on persuasive writing. This will include:
- An advertisement
- Poster or flier
- Book or blurb
- Newspaper or magazine article
- Persuasive leaflet
- Persuasive letter
The children will also be working on their basic skills each week. Please have a look on line for a list of High Frequency Words if you want to test them on their spellings at home. We also encourage reading and discussing texts at home regularly.
This term we will be looking at ‘Material Changes’ and ‘The Sustainable Earth’. This will involve investigating and experimenting with the features and properties of some natural and made materials, the properties of materials relating to their uses and how some materials are formed or produced.
Learning log activities will always support our learning in class and will be set on a Friday. Children are expected to return their homework by the following Wednesday.
Physical Education takes place every Thursday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has a full kit with them in school (White T shirt, black shorts and suitable footwear). P.E. kits need to be left in school every day and can be taken home at the end of the week or every half term to be washed.
Within PPA sessions this term on a Thursday afternoon, the children will have opportunities to enrich their curriculum with a variety of activities including:
- Sports with various sports coaches
- Singing with Vocalize
- Modern Foreign Languages – French and German
- A community project
