Welcome to Class 7
This Year 2 class is taught by Miss Kirkham and supported by Mrs Parkinson.
This term our topic is ‘journeys’. We have been learning all about different countries and cultures, and are very excited to visit Manchester Airport! We are very excited to share with you all the exciting things we are getting up to this summer term. You can keep up to date with this through SeeSaw and Twitter.
About Our Activities
In language, children are looking at the book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. This book is unusual because it does not have any words! Children have had to use their imaginations to come up with their own storyline. They are beginning to write their own stories using made-up worlds that they have deigned themselves.
Class 7 really enjoy doing maths. Through Inspire Maths children are challenged and encouraged to ‘master’ different approaches. They use lots of equipment in order to consolidate their understanding of different elements of mathematics. Currently, Class 7 are looking at their 2, 3, 4 and 5 times tables. Going through these at home with children and using apps such as ‘Hit the Button’ is helpful.
PE is usually on a Tuesday morning. As the weather gets nicer, please make sure that children have their kits that include trainers for outdoor use. PE kits should be left in school and will be returned for holidays.
Reading is not only an important skill to have, but you can have lots of fun doing it too! Please read with your child as much as possible, remembering to fill in their reading diaries. You can enhance your child’s experience using apps such as ‘Hairy Letters/Phonics and ‘Teach your Monster to Read’. Children need their book bags in school every day please.
