Throughout school we use core strategies to support learning, Reading and Writing Power, Cooperative Learning, Maths Mastery, Pupil Voice and Good to Be Green behaviour system. The children will explore six Areas of Learning and Experience: Languages, Literacy and Communication Mathematical Development Health and Well-being Expressive Arts Humanities Science and Technology The purpose of our curriculum will be to support our children to be: ambitious, capable learners, ready to learn throughout their lives enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society To find out more and follow your child's learning journey more closely, please contact your child's teacher to connect to their class seesaw account. We enjoy having fun and have a love of learning, we strive to be the best we can be, we are kind and creative and learning to have a voice. Our children in Year 2 learn through first-hand experiential activities with the serious business of ‘play’. We offer a child led curriculum where we develop a love for books from the outset. We provide invitations and provocations tailored to their interests and needs to excite and enthuse children. Through play children practice and consolidate their learning, explore ideas, experiment, take risks, solve problems, and make decisions individually and collaboratively. First-hand experiences allow children to develop an understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. Our Curriculum gives us the greatest freedom to decide what matters for our children at Broughton Primary School. We use ‘Mantle of the Expert’ experiences to provide authentic contexts for learners where they become fully immersed in their learning. Children will ask ‘Big Questions’ about their topic with pupil voice guiding their learning. Our learning environment promotes discovery and independence with a high emphasis on using the outdoor environment as a resource for children’s learning. Our indoor and outdoor environments that are fun, exciting, stimulating and safe, promote children’s development and natural curiosity to explore.
